Curtin University is now accepting applications from suitably qualified students into the John Curtin Undergraduate Scholarship for students. It is a fully-funded scholarship for all students.
Curtin University is an Australian public research university based in Bentley, Perth, Western Australia. The university is named after the 14th Prime Minister of Australia, John Curtin, and is the largest university in Western Australia, with over 58,000 students.
Description of John Curtin Undergraduate Scholarship
The John Curtin Undergraduate Scholarship will provide one of the following options of support for the normal expected duration of the degree for which the scholarship is offered (based on a full-time study load of 200 credits per year): Once an option has been selected, it cannot be changed for subsequent years.
OPTION 1
1. The cost of the student contribution fees* each study period (this excludes SSAF) each study period
$1,000 cash payment** (based on a full-time study load of 100 credits per study period) to assist with costs associated with studying and/or living expenses
2. A one-off payment of $6,000 towards an approved international study experience.
3. JCUS scholar mentor throughout the degree.

OPTION 2
1. $4,000 cash payment** (based on a full-time study load of 100 credits per study period) to assist with costs associated with studying and/or living expenses
2. A one-off payment of $6,000 towards an approved international study experience

4. Nationality: These scholarships are available for Australian citizens, , Permanent Humanitarian Visa and Australian Permanent Resident.
5. Number of Scholarships: Up to 10 scholarships are available.

Scholarship Eligibility for John Curtin Undergraduate Scholarship
Eligible Countries:
➣ These scholarships are available for Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens, Permanent Humanitarian Visa and Australian Permanent Resident.
Entrance Requirements:
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
➣ Nominees must meet all of the following criteria to be considered for a John Curtin Undergraduate Scholarship:
School-leavers
School-leaver applicants are those who will be sitting their WACE in this current academic year that the scholarship closes in.
1. Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian permanent humanitarian or New Zealand citizen
2. Selected Curtin University as a first preference through TISC to undertake an undergraduate degree by the scholarship closing date:
➣ Preferences must be confirmed by the closing date of this scholarship application, and remain unchanged until the scholarship is awarded
➣ It is the nominee’s responsibility to ensure that they have completed the declaration and finalised the payment to TISC to ensure that their preferences are valid by the deadline stipulated. Nominees should familiarise themselves with TISC processes, deadlines and timelines for preferences to be available to institutions.
3. Able to demonstrate leadership qualities and engagement in community service
In addition to the above, nominees must be:

This scholarship is not deferrable–recipients must commence their course in 2022
Non-School-Leavers
Non-school-leaver applicants are those who have completed the WACE in previous years or those who are currently undertaking studies at the post-secondary level or intending to return to studies for the year which this scholarship is offered.
1. Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian permanent humanitarian or New Zealand citizen
2. Selected Curtin University as a first preference through TISC to undertake an undergraduate degree by the scholarship closing date (applicants who are not applying through TISC, please contact the Scholarships Office for further information):
➣ Preferences must be confirmed by the closing date of this scholarship application, and remain unchanged until the scholarship is awarded
➣ It is the nominee’s responsibility to ensure that they have completed the declaration and finalised the payment to TISC to ensure that their preferences are valid by the deadline stipulated. Nominees should familiarize themselves with TISC processes, deadlines and timelines for preferences to be available to institutions.
3. Able to demonstrate leadership qualities and engagement in community service
4. Must be nominated by a registered professional educator who can verify their academic excellence
This scholarship is not deferrable – recipients must commence their course in 2019.

Step 1: Download

Step 2: Complete
➣ Nominator and nominee to complete the nomination form
➣ Important information such as formatting and documentation requirements detailed in nomination guide
➣ Nominees must have selected Curtin University as a first preference through TISC to undertake an undergraduate degree by the scholarship closing date
Step 3: Submit
➣ Closing date listed at top of the page and on the nomination form
➣ Late submissions will not be considered, therefore, applicants are encouraged to submit their applications early
➣ Incomplete applications will be assessed as unsuccessful
➣ The nomination form can be submitted by the nominator or nominee
➣ Please ensure the nomination form has been signed
Step 4: Receipt
Application receipt sent within 10 working days of receiving a nomination to:
➣ Nominator via the email listed on the nomination form and
➣ Nominee via email registered with TISC

1. Assessment commences as soon as applications close
2. Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
➣ Academic excellence
➣ Demonstrated leadership skills (within and outside of school parameters)
➣ Demonstrated community involvement (within and outside of school parameters)
➣ Nominee’s essay
➣ Nominator’s statement
Step 6: Outcome
➣ Outcome sent to all nominees via email registered with TISC in early December (all successful and unsuccessful nominees will be notified)
➣ Successful nominees sent scholarship offer packs via email in early-December
➣ Nominators of successful recipients will be notified via email in early-December
Step 7: Acceptance
➣ Successful nominees must return acceptance documents by mid-December
Please note:
1. The scholarship will be awarded if there are candidates of sufficient merit
2. The scholarship will commence from the first semester of study
3. The scholarship is not transferable to another university
