Moshal scholarship is currently open to scholars within and outside South Africa who seeks to pursue their education to a higher level. It is a well-funded scholarship.

About Moshal Scholarship

This Moshal Bursary is primarily aimed at providing access to University education in order to make an outstanding difference to the lives of disadvantaged students, their families, their communities, and hopefully the wider world one day.

Established in 2009 by Martin Moshal, the Moshal Scholarship Program currently provides scholarships to over 700 Moshal Scholars in Israel, South Africa and the Ukraine to enable determined young people from challenging backgrounds to attend the top universities in their home countries.

Our purpose is to help tenacious and determined students who, without our support, would find it difficult to make the journey to university and reach their potential at university and in their careers.

We support ambitious and highly motivated students from challenging backgrounds, to obtain high quality, sought-after degrees that lead to successful careers.

To develop a range of soft skills, values and attributes in our Moshal Scholars that support their evolution into resilient, responsible and respected people in their lives and workplaces.

Eligibility Criteria for Moshal Scholarship

Level of Study

The Moshal scholarship program is available to students that are to pursue their undergraduate studies in select study areas.

Field of Study

The Moshal scholarship program is available to students to study a selected range of subjects for the duration of their degrees: engineering, IT and computer science, medicine and health sciences, natural sciences, economics, law, and business.

Host Nationality

The scholarship is hosted and taken in South Africa.

Eligible Nationality

Moshal scholarship is open to South Africans.

What does Moshal Scholarship Cover?

The scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation, textbooks and we provide a living allowance for students who fulfil our criteria, for the duration of their university studies.

Moshal Scholarship Selection Process

The scholarship selection team looks for evidence of candidates with genuine financial need and who possess the aptitude, attitude, and values that are needed for a successful career and life.

This scholarship program is to be a scholarship of last resort. If a student can obtain funding elsewhere, we encourage them to do so.

The Selection Process is based on partnerships they do not accept unsolicited applications from students. Moshal scholarship program partners with various organizations (NGOs, schools, municipalities etc.)

In each country that works with high school students from challenging backgrounds, as well as with some financial aid offices at the universities concerned.

The Process itself combines a referral (shortlist) from our partner organizations and personal interviews with a member of the Moshal Team. Our Selection Committee then makes a final decision.

Moshal Scholarship Team

This team is made of up of professionals, who seek to make Martin Moshal’s vision a reality. They bring a host of skills and considerable passion for our work.

They also collaborate closely with many partners in South Africa, Israel, and Ukraine to make the program run effectively while maximizing the money spent directly on our students.
