The , Abeokuta, Ogun State(FUNAAB) was established on January 1, 1988. And this was by the Federal Government when four Universities of Technology, earlier merged in 1984, were demerged.
This led to the creation of the first two Universities of Agriculture in Abeokuta and Makurdi. Also, on the same date, Professor Nurudeen Olorun-Nimbe Adedipe was appointed the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the University.
Furthermore, prior to the emergence of UNAAB, the Federal Government had established the Federal University of Technology, Abeokuta (FUTAB) in 1983. And then, in 1984, it was merged with the University of Lagos.
However, it had its name changed to the College of Science and Technology, Abeokuta (COSTAB), before the demerger of January, 1988. At the initial stage, five Colleges were introduced in the University in October 1988 as follows:
College of Agricultural Management, Rural Development and Studies (COLAMRUD).
Also, College of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM).
College of Environmental Resources Management (COLERM).
Also, College of Natural Sciences (COLNAS).
College of Plant Science and Crop Production (COLPLANT)

FUNAAB 2021 Admission Procedure and Requirements
1. All applicants seeking undergraduate admission into 100, 200 and 300 Levels in the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) are hereby invited to apply online for the 2022 Pre-Admission Screening Exercise.
2. However, applications must be from suitably qualified candidates. Also, they must have chosen FUNAAB as their First Choice of Institution with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
3. Also, applicants must possess minimum entry requirements of five (5) O’ Level Credits. And this should be in relevant subjects at one or two sittings in SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB and fill the results online.
4. Additionally, applicants are advised to confirm the before logging in to fill the e-application form.

The FUNAAB Postgraduate School was established and assigned, by regulation, the responsibility for “coordination and quality control of postgraduate studies at the (FUNAAB)”.
