University of Pretoria Scholarship Program 2022 Application Update

University of Pretoria Scholarship Program is currently open for applications from suitably qualified students. The scholarship is fully funded for all students and is sponsored by the University of Pretoria.

The University of Pretoria Scholarship Program

is actively seeking doctoral candidates who can contribute to its research mission.

To support the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan, the university has set aside funds for two doctoral scholarships for applicants from Commonwealth Countries, excluding those from South Africa.

The scholarship aims to enhance the Sexual and Reproductive Rights in Africa Program of the Centre, with a particular emphasis on examining culture and/or criminalization as part of larger discussions on sexual and/or reproductive rights in the region of Africa.

Benefits of University of Pretoria Scholarship Program

Applicants who are awarded the scholarship are required to live in Pretoria, , for the duration of the three-year scholarship and participate in the Centre’s activities for about 25 hours per week.

Ideally, the residency should commence in May 2022.

To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. Hold a Master’s degree in law or humanities that is closely related to the field of sexual and/or reproductive rights.

2. Must have an excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English.

3. Demonstrate excellent research skills.

4. Show a strong interest and expertise in sexual and reproductive rights.

5. Have some knowledge of the African human rights system.

6. Able to work both independently and collaboratively.

Document Required for Application

1. The scholarship is comprehensive, including coverage of tuition fees, travel, living expenses, and other related costs.

2. The application necessitates several documents, including a resume,

3. A concise statement explaining why the applicant is seeking the scholarship and meeting the minimum criteria,

4. A 3 to 5-page research proposal outlining the research problem, research questions, proposed research methods, and familiarity with relevant literature.

5. Additionally, a writing sample on sexual and/or reproductive rights and copies of relevant post-graduate degrees and related academic transcripts are also required.
