www.immigration.gov.ng/recruitment form 2021: The Nigeria Immigration Service has successfully commenced recruitment intake for 2021 session applicants. This page will guide you on how to apply for the ongoing positions advertised by the NIS as well as get notifications for other job openings in Nigeria for graduates and non-graduate.

The Nigeria Immigration Service is an agency responsible for controlling persons entering or leaving Nigeria, issuing travel documents to Nigerian citizens in and outside Nigeria, issuing residence permits to foreigners in Nigeria, border surveillance and patrol, and enforcement of laws and regulations.

The Nigeria Service recruitment commences every year, and that of 2023/2024 has begun, so interested applicants will have to stay tuned. Follow the steps below carefully.

Requirements for the Nigeria Immigration Service Recruitment

  • The applicant must be Nigerian by birth.
  • Applicant must have National Identity Number (NIN)
  • Applicants must be medically fit and present the certificate of medical fitness from a government hospital.
  • An applicant would be required to pass a drug test
  • The applicant must be of good character and must not have been convicted of a criminal offence and must not be a member of a secret society/cult.
  • The applicant must be free from financial embarrassment.
  • Applicant must be between the ages of 18-30 years with exception of Doctors and Pharmacists
  • The applicant’s height must not be less than 1.65m for males and 1.60m for females.
  • Applicant’s chest measurement of not less than 0.87m for men.

Qualifications for Nigerian Immigration Service Recruitment

  • Possession of B.Sc, , OND in relation to the applied position from a recognized institution.
  • Any certificate either postgraduate or professional certification will be of advantage.
  • NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate.
  • West African School Certificate (WAEC) or Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC) with Credits in not less than three (3) subjects including English and at least passes in two (2) other subjects; or
  • Candidates must have National Examination Council (NECO)/General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level with passes in four (4) subjects obtained at one sitting or five (5) subjects obtained at two sittings including the English Language.)
  •  (ND) obtained from a recognized institution. National Certificate of Education (NCE) from a recognized institution; or General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) in two (2) subjects obtained at one sitting or three (3) subjects obtained at two sittings.
  • Must be computer literate.

Applicants With any Physical Challenges Need not Apply

Physical challenges like;

  1. Impediment in Speech (Stammer/Dumb)
  2. Gross malformation of teeth
  3. Knocked Knees
  4. Bow Legs
  5. K-legs
  6. Flat foot
  7. Limb Legs
  8. Bent Arms/Deformed Hands/Fracture
  9. Defective EyeSight (Squint-eye, Cross Eye, One-eyed and Total Blindness)
  10. Amputation of any part of Physical Body
  11. Hearing Impaired (Deaf)
  12. Hunched Back
  13. Obesity
  14. Medical Challenges
  15. Any Physical Deformity not mentioned, and
  16. Note that due to the Rigor of the Physical Excercise in the Recruitment Process, women with Pregnancy Need NOT Apply

Computer Based Test (CBT)

There shall be a Computer Based Test (CBT) for Shortlisted Candidates.

Appropriate time and date shall be communicated to such persons.

Important Info about Nigerian Immigration Service Recruitment

  • Any Certificate Or Qualification Not Declared Or Tendered And Accepted At Recruitment Centre Shall Not Be Acceptable After Recruitment Exercise.
  • All Candidates Are Advised To Printout Referees And Security Clearance Form.
  • All forms must be duly completed for submission during screening.
  • A candidate that submits more than one application will be disqualified.
  • The Application Portal Would Be Closed After Four (4) Weeks Of Opening.
  • Applications In Breach Of The Application Procedure Will Not Be Entertained.

After clicking on submit, if you have submitted correctly, you will receive a confirmatory mail.

All applications will be checked if the requirements for the position are being met.

If you are eligible, your application will be assessed in terms of experience, training, and skills.

The assessment test could consist of a written exam, computer-based test, aptitude test, or any type of simulation exercise.

Be informed about the time, type, and duration of the exam.

The result of the test is assessed by a special commission. If you pass the test, you will be included among the shortlisted names for an interview regarding the skills and you will be informed.

Mistakes to Avoid While Applying

A lot of people fail in many applications not because they are not qualified, but because of numerous mistakes. So take note of the following:

  1. Apply on time, do not wait for the deadline.
  2. Do the application processes alone, don’t send anybody to avoid mistakes in your data
  3. Keep yourself updated concerning the application
  4. Make sure you supply all the necessary requirements
  5. Take time to crosscheck your details before submission.
  6. Candidates are to apply for one job position, Candidates who attempt to apply multiple times will have their application disqualified

If you’ve been shortlisted, then you’ve got your foot in the door. And it’s time for you to shine at the final stage – the interview.

However, it could be a telephonic, Skype, or face-to-face interview. And this is depending on the employer. When shortlisted:

  1. Endeavour to get information about the company.
  2. Also, ensure you have a clear vision. Try to figure out why you want the specific position. And how you would be a good fit. Also, go through your application.
  3. Additionally, be interactive. It’s an interview, not an interrogation. There is much more to you than your resume.
  4. The practice goes a long way. Thus, take mock interviews with your friends or practice speaking before a mirror.
  5. It’s rare, but sometimes you do get an offer letter directly based on your application. You start planning the celebration, but remember some points before you go into that party mode: Get it in writing.
  6. Also, go over the written offer in detail. And make sure
    all important details are mentioned and ask questions if you don’t understand anything. Such as work profile, start date, duration, and stipend, etc.
  7. Send a thank-you letter to the employer, once you accept the offer.
  8. Also, follow up with an e-mail confirming your start date and expressing your enthusiasm for your new role.
