Korean Government KOICA Scholarship 2022 Application Update

Korean Government KOICA Scholarship is now open for applications from suitably qualified students. It is a fully funded scholarship for all students sponsored by Korean Government.

About the Scholarship

The Korea International Cooperation Agency was established in 1991 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of as a governmental organization for Official Development Assistance (ODA).

Also, it was to enhance the effectiveness of South Korea’s grant aid programs for developing countries by implementing the government’s grant aid and technical cooperation programs.

Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) is offering scholarship program for students from developing countries to undertake full-time postgraduate study at participating Korean universities.

Benefits of Korean Government KOICA Scholarship

1. Air travel fare: Economy class, round-trip airfare via the most direct route to and from Korea.

2. Full tuition fees.

3. Accommodation (mainly the dormitory of a training institute).

4. Living allowance.

5. Meals.

6. Textbooks and materials.

7. Study visits, field trips, etc. during the program.

8. A medical check up after entry into the program.

9. Overseas traveler’s health insurance: Expenses for medical treatments and hospital care due to diseases or accidents within the scope and limit of insurance coverage.

Requirements for KOICA Scholarship

Applicants must:

1. (Preferably) Be under age 40 as of February 1, 2022.

2. Be a citizen of the Scholarship Program target country.

3. Be a government official, an employee in the public sector, or a researcher in a state institute working in his/her home country with a bachelor’s degree or higher.

4. Be nominated by his or her government.

5. Have sufficient command of both spoken & written English to take classes conducted entirely in English and to write academic reports and a thesis in English.

6. Have a positive attitude and a strong will to get adjusted to a multicultural environment and to understand the hosting country’s culture.

7. Have good moral characteristics to endure student life on campus.

8. Be in good health, both physically and mentally, to undergo the program.

9. Pregnancy is regarded as a disqualifying condition for participating in this program.

10. Having tuberculosis or any kind of is regarded as a disqualifying condition for participation in this program.

12. Have not previously received a scholarship or participated in a scholarship program, including a KOICA Scholarship Program, from the Korean government.
